Rarotonga, Takitumu Conservation Area The Takitumu Conservation Area is located in Titikaveka, in the southeast of Rarotonga. The reserve has been created to protect from extinction one of the protagonist of the biodiversity of Cook Islands: The Kakerori (or Rarotongan Flycatcher) as well as other rare endemic species of birds like the i'oi (Rarotonga starling) and many others. The area is a tropical forest rich of plants and flowers like the Polynesian Chestnut tree, the Giant King Fern, the Rarotonga orchid.
