Los Roques: The Archipelago National Park in Venezuela
Los Roques Archipelago is a group of islands situated about 130 Km north of the coast of Venezuela mainland, in the Caribbean Sea. The rich biodiversity which includes tens of species of corals, hundreds of species of fishes, crustaceans, mollusks and other marine organisms, plus about one hundred species of birds has involved the creation of a National park and protected areas together with a wise regulation of the tourism resources. A fishing tradition carried on with a particular practice and techniques has been through years the main food resource now joined by tourism activities.
